AMG Celebrates

International Day of Education

24th January, 2024

International Day of Education

The sixth International Day of Education will be celebrated on 24 January 2024 under the theme “learning for lasting peace”. With the rise of conflicts around the world, this theme is best for a time like this.

In response to the importance of education, Africa Missions Global in 2023 announced ‘Horizon 2033’, a bold ambition to impact 100 million people globally through education to reach the millions of children out of school most of whom are in Africa.

Africa Missions Global has intervened in several countries in Africa to help close the gap in Education. We have impacted over 15 million children through our educational interventions and we know there are still 250 million children out of school based on various circumstances.

On this International Day of Education, we will share the stories of resilience, told by our children and how they have defied all odds to get an education. We will also focus on the role of technology in providing learning for lasting peace. We invite you to join us to celebrate these young minds and ask that you partner with us to provide quality education for all. Continue reading for more details;

Importance of International Day of Education

Education is a human right, a public good and a public responsibility and one that is necessary to create the necessary awareness for lasting peace.

It helps raise awareness about the positive impact of education and its power to transform society optimistically and is particularly important to Africa where a significant percentage of the out of school children globally are in Africa.

Also, without inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong opportunities for all, countries will not succeed in achieving gender equality and breaking the cycle of poverty that is leaving millions of children, youth and adults behind

The African Union set out its focus on Education to build a resilient education system fit for the 21st century in Africa which are aligned with our strategy on education.
