On January 24, 2025, Africa Missions Global (AMG) proudly joined the global celebration of the UNESCO International Day of Education, highlighting its deepening commitment to transforming education across Africa. At the heart of this year’s observance was a bold reaffirmation of AMG’s mission to improve foundational learning—particularly literacy and numeracy—for children and youth across the continent.
A Vision Rooted in Impact
The day opened with a stirring address by Pastor (Mrs.) Folu Adeboye, the Visionaire of Africa Missions Global, who passionately restated AMG’s pledge to support the efforts of the African Union, national governments, and educational stakeholders in ensuring access to quality, values-based education for all. She extended a heartfelt call to individuals, organizations, and institutions—public and private—to unite in advancing this crucial cause.
“We will continue to support the ongoing efforts by the African Union and various governments in Africa multilateral agencies, Civil society, as well as the private sector to forge partnerships that will ensure value-based quality education is available,” said Pastor (Mrs.) Adeboye.
She emphasized AMG’s Horizon 2033 vision—to impact 100 million lives through education by the year 2033—outlining three strategic pillars that guide this journey:
Scale Up, Scale Out, and Scale Deep.
Action Across the Continent
In celebration of the International Day of Education, AMG held literacy and numeracy-focused activities in primary schools across the African continent, including:
- Nigeria (Redeemers Basic School, Koma Hills, Adamawa State, The Redeemers School, Famole, Kwara State, The Redeemers International School, Ikom, Cross River State).
- Sierra Leone, Uganda, and Tanzania.
These activities aimed to assess and enhance children’s literacy and numeracy skills in a fun and supportive environment, reinforcing the belief that if the foundation is solid, the future can be strong.
AMG also spotlighted its virtual learning programs, including:
- Afri Learning called SwaziLearn (Eswatini) – a digital learning initiative.
- Vista Africa – focused on preparing 10 million Africans for the digital and creative economy.
- Ladies in Tech Africa (LITA) – with over 50,000 participants across Africa and beyond, this initiative is empowering women and girls with digital skills.
Driving Change with Data and Determination
Board representatives reiterated their commitment to addressing the alarming education statistics across Africa. They referenced the UN’s report that 9 out of 10 children in Sub-Saharan Africa cannot read or write properly, and noted that over 30 million children are out of school.
AMG’s strategic response involves deploying digital innovations, strengthening partnerships, and extending its reach into underserved communities. The organization is also piloting after-school literacy and numeracy programs in South West and North Central Nigeria, targeting at least 1,000 children to bring them up to international proficiency benchmarks.
A Call to Join the Movement
As the day drew to a close, the collective message from AMG’s leadership was clear: this is more than a celebration. It’s a call to action. With strong partnerships, a shared vision, and divine grace, AMG believes that these ambitious goals are achievable—and even surpassable.
We are not just building schools; we are building futures. With our frameworks and faith, Africa Missions Global will continue to move forward, rewriting the story of education in Africa—one life at a time.
