A new chapter in African education is unfolding. On Thursday, October 2, 2025, Africa Missions Global (AMG) and the British Council officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the British Council office in Lagos — a partnership that promises to strengthen teacher training and classroom quality across Africa.
The event, covered by Channels Television, marked a shared commitment to improving education and empowering those at the heart of it — the teachers.
A Shared Vision for Education Excellence
Speaking at the event, Mrs. Eyono Fatayi-Williams, CEO of AMG, explained that the digital teacher training programme will be rolled out in three structured levels, each designed to strengthen digital literacy and teaching competence.
The pilot phase will train 40 teachers from schools within the AMG network in Lagos. Each phase will last three months, with participants advancing through the levels based on performance.
British Council’s Commitment to Quality Learning
Representing the British Council, Ms. Donna McGowan, Country Director of the British Council, emphasized that the Council has trained over 30,000 teachers across the country, helping to strengthen classroom delivery and learning outcomes.
The new partnership with AMG aligns perfectly with the Council’s mission to provide educators with world-class tools and skills for 21st-century teaching.
Empowering Educators, Transforming Communities
The Digital Teacher Academy, jointly developed by AMG and the British Council, will make training accessible both online and offline — even for teachers in areas with low internet connectivity.
Pastor Brown Oyitso, Chairman of AMG’s Board of Trustees, also spoke about the significance of the partnership, describing it as a bridge between knowledge and impact.
Founded in July 1996, Africa Missions Global has remained committed to improving lives through education, healthcare, and empowerment initiatives. Over the decades, AMG has built and adopted schools, offered scholarships, and supported teacher and leadership training across African countries.
Looking Ahead
The partnership marks another major step toward AMG’s long-term goal under its Horizon 2033 Vision — to impact 100 million lives across Africa. By next year, the organization aims to extend the programme further, working toward its ambition to reach one million people by 2027.
This collaboration between AMG and the British Council is more than a partnership — it’s a movement to reimagine education, empower teachers, and deliver hope at scale.
