On Wednesday, November 26, 2025, Africa Missions Global (AMG) and the British Council marked a major milestone in their educational development partnership with the successful induction of the pilot cohort of 40 teachers under the Foundational Learning Intervention Project. The event officially launched the implementation phase of the Teacher Training Program outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by both organizations on October 2, 2025.
These 40 teachers, currently delivering literacy and numeracy lessons across eight government primary schools in Ifako-Gbagada, within the Kosofe Local Government Area of Lagos State – represent the first beneficiaries of this capacity-building initiative designed to elevate teaching quality and learning outcomes in public schools.
A Practical and Interactive Induction Experience
During the induction session, representatives of the British Council provided teachers with hands-on guidance on how to:
- Register on the British Council Learning Portal
- Navigate the platform
- Access self-study modules curated to enhance instructional quality
Teachers were introduced to three core training modules:
- Understanding Lesson Planning
- Managing Lessons and Learners
- Managing Classroom Activities
The British Council team also unveiled a detailed workbook developed to support teacher reflection, lesson documentation, and the practical application of new strategies in day-to-day classroom delivery.
Strengthening Teacher Capacity for Better Learning Outcomes
The training aims to empower public-school teachers to access high-quality learning resources, improve professional competence, and adopt globally recognized classroom management strategies. Through the Teaching English: Managing Learning course, teachers will be equipped to:
- Design and evaluate engaging lesson plans
- Use effective signaling and instruction-checking techniques
- Manage transitions and classroom activities smoothly
- Strengthen reflective practice for continuous growth
This initiative reinforces AMG’s mandate to promote education as a catalyst for transformation across Africa, especially within underserved communities.
A Partnership Anchored on Impact
The AMG–British Council collaboration underscores a shared commitment to improving teacher professionalism, literacy delivery, and instructional leadership in public schools. By equipping educators with robust, evidence-based teaching tools, the programme seeks to drive measurable improvements in foundational learning outcomes across Nigeria and the wider African region.
As the pilot cohort embarks on this transformational journey, AMG continues to champion partnerships that foster educational excellence, empower teachers, and shape the future of Africa’s young learners.
